Flower Farm Art Therapy
In the spirit of abundance and reciprocity, this is a colourful gift of time and energy.
From me to you with love.
An opportunity to observe the cultivation of our photosynthesizing kin through interaction & curiosity.
FFAT Vision
Participants are invited throughout the season to learn about the production by joining in the planting, maintenance, and harvest of precious blooms. I sow the seeds and bring to fruition the vibrant aesthetic delights of flower power.
Weather permitting, there will be outdoor drawing sessions and technique-sharing from myself and other contributors. On rainy days, these sessions will take place indoors with still-life arrangements. My hope is to cultivate a community that blossoms and grows around a shared love of colour, shape, form, and expressive line work.
There will be space for 10–15 participants one evening per week from 5–7pm, from the end of July to mid-September. This opportunity is open to anyone interested and able to make it to the farm.
Excess flowers harvested will be donated to local nursing homes or elders still living at home to brighten their days, whenever possible.
For those unable to attend, documentation of the project’s process will be shared here.

My mental health & well being has been positively impacted by my relationship to land, curation of beautiful, bunched blooms, and the expression of art.

There will be the need for volunteers to assist with the planting, maintenance and preparation of the project. If you are interested in getting your hands dirty and love to prepare and organize art supplies, your help would be a great service! Your contribution will be honoured with a plant material trade, vegetables or flowers depending on availability, if desired. There is a need for 3-5 folks in case life happens and they would preferably be located within a 15-20 minute drive from the farm to reduce the travel costs for the gracious folks willing to donate time.

Soil Mates Farm is a commercial operation and our home. We request that when on the property, you respect the land, people and other inhabitants. Please be mindful of the energy you bring with you and reframe from yelling or engaging in a way that negates the safety and well being of others.
There will be outhouses (instructions on how to use them inside) with hand washing stations nearby.
A site map will be provided and parking made visible for those attending. Car pool when possible!
If you would like to donate to the program there will be a donation box on site for anyone who believes in this work. A small selection of bunched blooms that are not donated to elders in the community will be sold at the Lunenburg Farmer’s Market with FFAT tags to help cover costs and compensate contributors for their time/travel expenses.
